The Shura Council signs a Cooperation Memorandum of Understanding with GURLAC

A memorandum of understanding on cooperation was signed today at the headquarters of the Shura Council between the Shura Council and the parliamentary Group of the Latin America and the Caribbean (GRULAC).  H. E. Mr. Ahmed Bin Abdulla Bin Zaid Al-Mahmoud signed the MoU for the State of Qatar, while H. E. Mr. Mr. Rodolfo Urtubey, the President of the GURLAC signed for the parliamentary Group of the Latin America and the Caribbean countries in the IPU.

Both sides agreed under the cooperation memorandum to strengthen the bonds of friendship, to support stability and continuity in their relations and to explore mechanisms for joint cooperation,  exchange of information and visits between the Shura Council and the parliaments of the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, in order to bolster bilateral cooperation relations and to enhance communication in the field of political dialogue, international peace and security, promotion of democracy, education, energy and water resources, in addition to other issues of common concern to both sides.

The signing of the MoU took place during a meeting held between the two sides, whereat they discussed parliamentary relations between the Shura Council and the parliaments of the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean and the ways to enhance and develop them. The meeting also reviewed issues on the agenda of the (140) Meeting of the General Assembly of the IPU which will take place in Doha next Saturday.

The meeting was attended by several members of the Qatari- Latin America and Caribbean Friendship Group in the Shura Council.
