Shura Council Speaker Partakes in Two Coordination Meetings of Gulf, Arab Groups at the Inter-Parliamentary Union

HE Speaker of the Shura Council Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud on Saturday participated in the coordination meeting of the Gulf Group associated to the 141st General Assembly meetings of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), which will begin on Sunday, and run for several days.

The meeting, to which the State of Qatar's delegation was headed by HE the Speaker of the Shura Council, discussed many of the issues raised in the agenda of the 141st General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union. In addition, participants exchanged views on the urgent items on the agenda of the General Assembly, and agreed on the candidates of the Gulf Group in the vacant positions.

HE Speaker of the Shura Council Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud also headed the State of Qatar's delegation to the meeting of the Arab Group, associated to the 141st General Assembly meetings of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), which discussed a number of topics on the General Assembly agenda.

Participants listened to a briefing by the representative of the Arab Parliamentary Group in the Executive Committee of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, on the work of the Committee and exchanged views on requests for the inclusion of urgent or additional items on the agenda of the General Assembly or the Governing Council. They also agreed on the candidates of the Arab Group for vacant positions in the permanent or sub-committees of the Union.

HE Qatar's Ambassador to Serbia Sheikh Fahad bin Mubarak Al-Thani attended the meetings.
