Qatar, Turkey Ink MoU to Bolster Parliamentary Cooperation

The State of Qatar and the Republic of Turkey signed here on Thursday a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote parliamentary cooperation between the two countries, in the context of the official visit of HE Speaker of the Shura Council Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud to the Turkish capital, Ankara.

The MoU was signed by HE Speaker of the Shura Council Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud , and HE Speakers of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Mustafa Sentop.

Under the MoU, the two sides agreed to bolster parliamentary cooperation to strengthen the bonds of friendship between the Qatari Shura Council and the Grand Turkish National Assembly and bringing about peace for nations; enhance channels of parliamentary communication between the two parties; exchange parliamentary knowledge and experiences in the legislative, supervisory and administrative fields; enrich the common areas and work to unify positions on matters of mutual interest.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the parliamentary cooperation relations between the two brotherly countries and ways of enhancing them.

The meeting was attended by Heads of the Qatar-Turkish Parliamentary Friendship Groups, a number of members of the Shura Council and the Grand Turkish National Assembly, and HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Turkey Salem bin Mubarak Al Shafi.
