The Shura Council Renews Pledge of Allegiance and Loyalty to HH the Amir

The Shura Council held its regular weekly meeting today under the chairmanship of His Excellency Mr. Ahmed Bin Abdulla Bin Zaid Al-Mahmoud, the Speaker of the Council.

At the beginning of the meeting His Excellency has saluted and congratulated, in his name and on behalf of the members of the Council His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, the Emir "may Allah protect him", his Highness the Father Emir, Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdulla Bin Hamad Al-Thani, and the respectful people of Qatar, sending the best wishes and blessings on the occasion of the national day of the State of Qatar, renewing allegiance and loyalty to His Highness the Emir, and stressing the determination to sustain development, construction, endeavours and hard strive for the sake of our homeland and the citizens under the leadership of His Highness.

His Excellency Mr. Ahmed Bin Abdulla Bin Zaid Al-Mahmoud expressed his pride and proudness about our past glories which the founder Sheikh Jassim Bin Mohamed Bin Thani, (may he rest in peace) laid its foundations. His Excellency as well reflected our present brilliancy and achievements, which have been realized by the grace of Allah and by the wisdom, guidance and policies of  our leadership, imploring Allah to make the anniversary of the national day suitable for galvanizing and mobilizing energies, adherence to values and ethics, upholding the banners of sincere and hard work for the sake of the beloved Qatar and its loyal people.

 
The Council further continued its consideration of the agenda items and discussed a draft law amending some provisions of law No (7) of 2007 on administrative disputes and decided to refer it to the Internal and External Affairs Committee for study and to submit a report thereon to the Council.


Thereafter, the Council took note of the letter of the Cabinet on the recommendation of the Council about the damage inflicted on the Qatari mothers (divorcees/ widowed women) by the fathers of their children, who hail from the blockading countries.  
The Council expressed its gratitude and appreciation to the esteemed government for its consideration and positive response to the recommendations of the Council and for the actions taken thereon by the government.
 
The Speaker of the Shura Council briefed the members of the Council about the outcomes of his meeting yesterday with the delegation of the European Parliament for Relations with the Arabian Peninsula under the chairmanship of Her Excellency Mrs. Michèle Alliot-Marie. His Excellency pointed out that during the meeting he talked about the unjust blockade imposed on the State of Qatar and the flagrant violation of international laws and humanitarian norms. He then expressed his deep appreciation to the European Parliament's positions. 

He added that he also discussed with delegation of the European Parliament the strategic relations between the State of Qatar and the European Union, and the role played by the Shura Council and the European Parliament in supporting, promoting these relations. The meeting also reviewed a number of regional and international issues of common interest.

His Excellency also briefed the members of the Council about the results of his meeting last Saturday with His Excellency Mr. Maurice Leroy, the President of French-Qatar Friendship Group in the French National Assembly, and with His Excellency Mr. Jean-Marie, Deputy President of the French –Qatar Friendship Group in the French Senate, explaining that the both French parliamentarians called for lifting of the blockade and settlement of differences through dialogue. They have both expressed their satisfaction with the development and progress of the Qatari-French relations. They also praised the economic and legislative renaissance the State of Qatar is witnessing and the active role of the State of Qatar on regional and international arenas. They further underlined the expectations for the development of the parliamentary relations between the two countries.
