The Shura Council hold its regular weekly meeting

The Shura Council held today its regular weekly session under the chairmanship of H.E. Mohamed bin Abdullah al-Sulaiti, Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council. 

At the beginning of the session, the Council discussed a draft law on railways. The draft law contains 36 articles specifying the functions and competences of the Ministry of Communications and Telecommunications and the Qatar Railway Company (Rail) on the technical and administrative aspects of Qatar’s railways. The draft law also contains issues relating to the operation and safety of railways.

After discussions, the Council decided to refer the draft law to its Public Services and Utilities Committee for consideration and submitting its report thereon to the Council.

Further, the Council continued considering its agenda and discussed the report of its Internal and Foreign Affairs Committee on the draft law amending some provisions of Law No. 15 of 2011 on combating human trafficking.

After discussions, the Council decided to approve the above mentioned draft law and to submit its recommendations thereon to the esteemed Government
