The Shura Council participated in the forty-first session of the Executive Committee of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, which was held today via videoconference, chaired by H.E. Mr. Ibrahim Boughali, President of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union and Speaker of the People’s National Assembly of Algeria.
The Council was represented at the meeting by H.E. Dr. Sultan bin Hassan Al-Dhabit Al-Dosari, Member of the Shura Council and Member of the Executive Committee of the Union, in the presence of H.E. Dr. Hamda bint Hassan Al Sulaiti, Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council, Member of the Executive Committee of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, and Vice-Chair of the Committee for the Arab Group within the Union.
During the meeting, participants reviewed reports of the specialized committees, including the Financial Committee and the Parliamentary Diplomacy Committee. They also discussed the mechanism for voting on emergency items within the Inter-Parliamentary Union, in addition to examining the emergency item to be submitted by the Arab Group during the 152nd General Assembly of the Union, which is scheduled to be held in Istanbul later this month.
The participants further discussed adopting a unified position regarding nominations for leadership positions within the Inter-Parliamentary Union, as well as reviewing the final accounts for the year 2025 and the draft memorandum of cooperation between the Arab Group and the African Group within the Union.
