The Shura Council participated in the 46th meeting of the Association of Secretaries-General of Arab Parliaments, held in Algeria on Saturday, on the sidelines of the 38th Executive Committee meeting of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU).
HE Shura Council Secretary-General, Nayef bin Mohammed Al Mahmoud, represented the Council at the meeting, which focused on staff capacity building and developing technical and administrative skills.
In his remarks at the meeting, HE the Shura Council Secretary-General said that the General Secretariat plays a fundamental part in supporting parliamentary work, given its pivotal role in enhancing the performance of parliaments and legislative councils and enabling them to fulfill their legislative and oversight duties efficiently and effectively.
He said that enhancing staff capacity building and developing technical and administrative skills serves as a strategic investment for the future of parliamentary work, improving performance quality and keeping pace with rapid changes.
HE Nayef bin Mohammed Al Mahmoud said that competency developmentآ is a top priority for the Shura Council's General Secretariat, inspired by the Qatar National Vision 2030, which places human development at the forefront of its pillars.
His Excellency said that the General Secretariat has begun implementing a comprehensive plan to train employees through strategic partnerships with specialized training institutions in Qatar and organizing field visits to parliaments and legislative councils in sisterly and friendly countries, with the aim of exploring pioneering experiences and exchanging parliamentary expertise.
HE Al Mahmoud said that training parliamentary staff requires adopting comprehensive strategies, which comes after having identified training needs and designing specialized programs covering technical, legal, administrative, and leadership aspects, in addition to investing in digital education and empowering administrative leadership to guide work teams.
In conclusion, HE the Shura Council Secretary-General stressed the importance of joint work within the framework of the Association of Secretaries-General of Arab Parliaments, to enhance cooperation and integration among Arab parliaments, developing their human capacities in a way that contributes to serving their countries and peoples and achieving their aspirations.
