HE President of the Republic of Albania Bajram Begaj commended the comprehensive development vision pursued by the State of Qatar under the leadership of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, which has made Qatar a trusted partner at both the regional and international levels. He also praised His Highness's role and efforts in supporting peace and stability in the world.
His Excellency also expressed his country's aspiration to expand cooperation with the State of Qatar in the economic, cultural, and parliamentary fields, emphasizing that relations between the two countries are based on the principles of friendship, constructive cooperation, and mutual understanding regarding many regional and international issues.
This came during the visit of HE the President of the Republic of Albania and his accompanying delegation to the Shura Council Wednesday, where they met with HE Speaker of the Shura Council Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim.
HE the Albanian President, who is visiting the country to participate in the Second World Summit for Social Development, expressed his pleasure at visiting the Shura Council, lauding the important role the Council plays in supporting the development process in the State of Qatar.
At the outset of the meeting, HE Speaker of the Shura Council welcomed HE the Albanian President, expressing his appreciation for this visit, which reflects the depth of relations between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Albania. He noted the strong bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two friendly countries based on mutual respect and understanding, and their shared desire to develop bilateral relations at all levels, serving the interests of both nations.
HE Al Ghanim commended the existing relations between the Shura Council and the Albanian Parliament, emphasizing the importance of strengthening parliamentary cooperation and exchanging legislative expertise and experiences. This, he stated, contributes to supporting both countries' efforts to achieve sustainable development and enhances understanding between their peoples through parliamentary diplomacy.
During the meeting, bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen them were reviewed, particularly those related to parliamentary cooperation and the exchange of visits.
At the conclusion of the visit, HE President Begaj toured the Council building, including the 'Tamim bin Hamad Hall', where he was briefed on the conduct of the sessions and the Council's working mechanisms and received an explanation of its functions and responsibilities.
HE Chairman of the Shura Council's Health, Public Services and Environment Affairs Committee Abdullah bin Nasser bin Turki Al Subaie stated that the meeting between HE the Shura Council Speaker and HE the President of the Republic of Albania focused on parliamentary relations between the two countries and ways to develop them.
In a press statement, His Excellency noted the President of the Republic of Albania's keenness on developing and strengthening bilateral relations, as well as enhancing cooperation and exchange of visits between the Shura Council and the Albanian Parliament to further advance their partnership.
He explained that during the meeting, the President of the Republic of Albania was briefed on the parliamentary work process of the Shura Council and the legislative cycle of lawmaking in Qatar, expressing great interest in learning about the procedures followed in this regard.
HE Al Subaie reaffirmed the Shura Council's constant commitment to strengthening and deepening cooperation in legislative fields with parliaments worldwide through parliamentary diplomacy.
In a related context, His Excellency referred to the parliamentary forum held Tuesday by the Shura Council in cooperation with the Inter-Parliamentary Union titled "Investing in People and Institutions: The Role of Parliamentarians in Social Development", as part of the Second World Summit on Social Development. The forum witnessed active and wide participation from numerous international parliaments and produced significant outcomes that support efforts to achieve social development at various levels.
