The Shura Council participated in the sixth expert roundtable on the common principles for supporting parliaments, organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union via videoconference, under the title “From Principle to Practice: Advancing Parliamentary Development through Gender Equality.”
The Council was represented at the event by His Excellency Mr. Khaled bin Abbas bin Kamal Al Emadi, Member of the Shura Council.
During the roundtable, participants assessed the progress achieved in promoting gender equality through parliamentary self-development initiatives, and reviewed key strategies and innovative practices in this field, in addition to discussing ways to overcome obstacles hindering the achievement of equality in parliamentary work.
In his intervention, His Excellency the Member of the Shura Council highlighted the progress witnessed by the State of Qatar over recent decades in strengthening the role of women and their excellence across all fields, including the political, diplomatic, and legislative spheres. He pointed to the presence of Qatari women in the Shura Council as members and as Deputy Speaker, noting that national policies and legislation have contributed to providing a supportive working environment for women. He emphasized that Qatari women have proven their capabilities across various sectors and, alongside their male counterparts, are partners in building Qatar and achieving its National Vision 2030.
