Conclusion of the 298th Session of the Executive Committee Meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Doha

The proceedings of the 298th session of the Executive Committee meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Union concluded today in Doha, hosted by the Shura Council with the participation of Their Excellencies members of the Executive Committee, following discussions on a number of items included on the agenda.
In a statement on this occasion, Her Excellency Dr. Hamda bint Hassan Al-Sulaiti, Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council, member of the Executive Committee, and Vice-Chair of the Committee representing the Arab Group within the Union, affirmed that the meeting constituted an important milestone in assessing the course of the Union’s work, and resulted in outcomes that are expected to contribute to developing its mechanisms and enhancing its effectiveness, in a manner that keeps pace with the current challenges facing international parliamentary work.
Her Excellency explained that the discussions reflected the keenness of the members of the Executive Committee to strengthen joint parliamentary action and to entrench the approach of multilateral parliamentary cooperation as an effective tool for supporting dialogue, coordinating positions, and exchanging expertise among national parliaments, thereby contributing to the achievement of the Union’s objectives and responding to the aspirations of peoples.
Her Excellency Dr. Hamda bint Hassan Al-Sulaiti also emphasized the Shura Council’s commitment to continuing its positive contribution to supporting the paths of international parliamentary cooperation and strengthening partnerships with regional and international parliaments and parliamentary institutions, stemming from its belief in the importance of collective action in consolidating peace
