Shura Council Celebrates Family Day in Qatar

15 April 2025

The Shura Council participated in the celebration of Family Day in Qatar, observed annually on April 15, by illuminating its building in green.
The Council’s celebration of this occasion, in alignment with various state institutions and entities, comes as part of national efforts to raise awareness about the importance of family cohesion and solidarity. It also highlights the pivotal role families play in building a progressive and prosperous society, in line with the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030 and Article (21) of the State Constitution, which states: "The family is the foundation of society. It is based on religion, morality, and patriotism. The law shall regulate the means to protect it, support its structure, strengthen its bonds, and safeguard motherhood, childhood, and old age under its care."
It is worth noting that the idea of designating a special day for the family in Qatar originated during the World Family Conference hosted by the country in 2004, on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the International Year of the Family. In 2011, the Council of Ministers approved April 15 as the official annual Family Day in Qatar.
