Shura holds its weekly meeting, deliberates and being briefed

The Shura Council held today its regular weekly session, under the chair of HE Mr. Ahmed Bin Abdulla Bin Zaid Al Mahmoud, Speaker of the Council.

 

At the beginning of the session, the Council discussed Decree by Law No (16) for 2020 to amend some of the provisions of the Decree by Law No (11) for 2012 Concerning the Governmental Regulation of the Sale and Purchase of Chemical and Petrochemical Products Produced in the State of Qatar.

 

After the debate, the Council approved the Decree by Law and decided to refer its recommendations to the esteemed Government. The Council also discussed Decree by Law No (18) for 2020 to amend some provisions of the Labor Law issued by Law No (14) for 2004.

 

After the debate, the Council decided to refer the Decree by Law to its Public Services and Utilities Committee to study it and to report thereon to the Council.

During the session, His Excellency Mr. Ahmed Bin Abdulla Bin Zaid Al Mahmoud, the Speaker of the Shura Council briefed the members of the Council on his participations, via visual communication technology, in conferences and meetings during the Council’s recess. These included his chairing the delegation of the State of Qatar, in the work of the he 13th, Periodic Meeting of the GCC Speakers of the Shura Councils, Council of Representatives, the Federal National Council, and the National Assembly, which was held on July 21st,  2020. He also chaired the delegation of Qatar to the 5th World Conference of the Speakers of Parliaments held on 19th, and 20th, August, 2020. As well, HE participated in the 206th Session of Governing Council of the Inter-Parliamentary Union IPU, which was held on 1st,  to 4th,of November, 2020, whereat  a new President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union IPU was elected.

 

His Excellency briefed the Council on his chairing of the Executive Committee of the Global Organization of Parliamentarians against Corruption GOPAC, which was held on July 14th, 2020 and adopted a series of resolutions aimed at achieving the Organization's objectives. The GOPAC Executive Committee once again held another meeting on November 8th, 2020 whereat it discussed and approved the Organization's future activities and programs.

 

HE the Speaker also briefed the Council on his receiving in Council early this month HE Mr. Khaled Ammar Al-Mishri, President of the High Council of State in the sisterly Republic of Libya. During the meeting, they reviewed the relations of cooperation between the two sisterly countries, especially in the parliamentary field and explored ways to support and develop them. In addition, the meeting discussed the latest developments in Libya.

 

HE the Speaker of the Shura Council praised the distinguished activities of the members of the Shura Council who participated during the recess of the Council, in more than twenty regional and international events, which addressed many important issues.
