The Shura Council State of Qatar

The Shura Council participated in the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Roundtable held today, via video conferencing, under the title "Towards Effective Anti-Discrimination Measures: Parliaments and Human Rights Treaty Bodies". 
The Council was represented at the event by HE Nasser bin Hassan Al Kubaisi, Member of the Shura Council.
The roundtable, which featured parliamentarians from various legislatures and parliamentary organizations around the world, discussed effective methods in parliaments to combat discrimination in their day-to-day work. Participants reviewed concrete parliamentary initiatives in this regard, and shared their practical experiences in passing new laws, strengthening oversight, and budgeting to combat discrimination in various areas. They also discussed ways to collaborate more effectively with UN human rights bodies to enable parliaments to achieve greater impact in combating discrimination.
