The Qatar–Turkey Parliamentary Friendship Group at the Shura Council, chaired by His Excellency Engineer Ahmed bin Hetmi Al-Hetmi, Chair of the Group, held a meeting today with the Turkey-Qatar Friendship Group at the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, chaired by His Excellency Mr. Hulusi Akar, who is currently visiting the country as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between the two councils.
At the outset of the meeting, the Qatar-Turkey Friendship Group welcomed its counterpart from the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, affirming the deep-rooted relations and strategic ties between the two countries, and praising the important role played by friendship groups in enhancing parliamentary cooperation and broadening avenues of coordination between the two sides.
For his part, His Excellency Mr. Hulusi Akar and the members of the Friendship Group expressed their appreciation for the warm reception, commending the continuous development witnessed in Qatari-Turkish relations, and emphasizing the importance of reciprocal visits in supporting the parliamentary partnership and unifying positions in international forums.
The two sides discussed ways to enhance joint parliamentary cooperation, develop communication channels between them, and intensify the exchange of legislative expertise in a manner that strengthens the strategic relations between the State of Qatar and the sisterly Republic of Türkiye. The meeting also reviewed a number of topics of mutual interest and coordination on issues included on the agendas of upcoming parliamentary conferences.
The meeting concluded with both groups affirming their keenness to continue consultations and to develop the parliamentary partnership in a way that serves the common interests of the two brotherly countries and peoples, and supports the course of bilateral cooperation in various fields.
