The Shura Council State of Qatar

 HE Speaker of the Shura Council Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, on Tuesday, met with HE Speaker of the Council of Representatives of the sisterly Republic of Iraq, Dr. Mahmoud Al Mashhadani, who is now on a visit to the State of Qatar.

HE Speaker of the Shura Council stressed, during the meeting, the depth of the fraternal ties between Qatar and Iraq, noting the constantly evolving Qatar-Iraq relationship at all levels, including the parliamentary relations.

His Excellency underlined that the Shura Council is committed to boosting constructive cooperation and joint coordination with the Iraqi Council of Representatives, in pursuit of meeting the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples and serving their shared interests.

For his part, HE Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives underscored the keenness to expand the frontiers of parliamentary cooperation between the two nations and intensify consultations on issues of shared concern. He hailed the State of Qatar's role in supporting security and peace and strengthening sustainable development paths.

Both sides discussed avenues for enhancing parliamentary cooperation between the two countries, as well as a range of topics of mutual interest.

They also conferred on the developments in the region, particularly the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip, stressing the importance of bolstering joint Arab parliamentary action within international parliamentary unions, foremost among them the Inter-Parliamentary Union, with a view to unifying positions and serving Arab causes, chief among them the Palestinian cause, through effective influence over the course of international parliamentary decision-making.
