The Shura Council participated in the fourth session of the first regular session of the third legislative term of the Arab Parliament, held at the Iraqi Council of Representatives in Baghdad.
HE Member of the Shura Council and Member of the Arab Parliament Shaikha bint Yousuf Al Jufairi, HE Member of the Shura Council and Member of the Arab Parliament Essa bin Ahmad Al Nassr, HE Member of the Shura Council and Member of the Arab Parliament Salem bin Rashid Al Muraikhi, and HE Member of the Shura Council and Member of the Arab Parliament Hamad bin Abdullah Al Mulla represented the Shura Council at the session.
The session discussed a host of important Arab issues, including developments in the Palestinian cause and developments in several Arab countries. It also reviewed the reports of the four committees on political, legislative, social, and economic issues, and emphasized the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in supporting security and stability in the region.
In her remarks, HE Shaikha Al Jufairi reiterated Qatar's full solidarity with the Palestinian people, who have been subjected to brutal Israeli aggression for more than a year and a half.
Her Excellency noted that the State of Qatar is continuing its political and humanitarian efforts, in coordination with fraternal countries, to achieve a ceasefire and support the steadfastness of Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank by delivering humanitarian aid and demanding the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
Her Excellency commended the decision of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, during its recent meetings in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, calling for a two-state solution. She also commended the declaration of the Parliamentary Group in Solidarity with Palestine, issued at the conclusion of its meeting in Istanbul on Friday, stressing that these parliamentary stances strengthen the political movement to end the siege and achieve a just peace.
Members of the Shura Council participated in meetings of the Arab Parliament's standing committees, which discussed developments in the Arab world and a number of vital political, legislative, economic, and social issues, within the framework of strengthening joint Arab parliamentary action.
