Speaker of Shura Council Stresses Moral, Political Responsibility of Parliaments Toward Gaza in Meeting with Hungarian Parliament Speaker

HE Speaker of the Shura Council Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim met today with HE Speaker of the Parliament of the friendly Republic of Hungary Dr. Laszlo Kover, who is currently visiting the country at the head of a parliamentary delegation. The visit comes at the invitation of the Shura Council, as part of strengthening parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.

At the beginning of the meeting, HE Speaker of the Shura Council welcomed the Speaker of the Hungarian Parliament, praising the positive growth in Qatari-Hungarian relations at various levels, particularly in the parliamentary field. He emphasized that this visit represents an advanced step in developing bilateral coordination and exchanging legislative expertise.

For his part, Dr. Laszlo Kover lauded the remarkable development of bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields, especially in light of the momentum they have gained in recent years. He emphasized his country's keenness to expand the scope of parliamentary cooperation between the two sides, in a way that enhances mutual understanding and supports the interests of the two friendly countries.

The main focus of the discussion was the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip. HE Speaker of the Shura Council reviewed the extensive efforts made by the State of Qatar, under the leadership of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, to mediate a ceasefire, secure humanitarian aid, and alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people under the ongoing aggression.

HE Al Ghanim stressed that parliaments bear a moral and political responsibility regarding the events in Gaza, calling for unified parliamentary positions in international forums to achieve justice, end violations, and protect the rights of the Palestinian people.

In turn, HE Dr. Kover commended Qatar's role in humanitarian mediation, praising its active endeavors at the regional and international levels, and stressed the importance of continued parliamentary consultations between the two sides to enhance security and stability.

The two sides also discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the legislative field and intensify coordination between the two councils to serve their common interests.
