The Shura Council State of Qatar

The Assembly of Secretaries-General of National Parliaments held Saturday a meeting for the Assembly's executive committee as part of the Inter-Parliamentary Union's 143rd Assembly, currently underway in the Spanish capital, Madrid, with the participation of HE Secretary-General of the Shura Council Dr. Ahmed bin Nasser Al Fadala.

The meeting discussed the working methods of parliamentary committees, especially with regard to measuring the impact of the committees' work on the legislative process, and whether these committees form part of the formal process of enacting legislation.

It also dealt with the role of committees in monitoring, their authority in the field of accountability, and their ability to evaluate general policies.
