Shura Council Speaker Returns to Doha

HE Speaker of the Shura Council Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanem, and the accompanying delegation returned to Doha today, after participating in the work of the 143rd General Assembly and the 208th session Governing Council of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), which was held in Madrid.
During the past three days, the session discussed a number of topics related to democracy, human rights and the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on freedoms, as well as issues related to equality, youth and women's participation, child protection, and eliminating discrimination.
The work of the General Assembly will continue until next Tuesday, to discuss a number of issues related to strengthening cooperation in the field of parliamentary work, and reviewing the work reports of the Union, its legislative bodies and its permanent committees.
