H.E. Dr. Hamda bint Hassan Al Sulaiti, Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council, expressed her pride in the remarkable achievements during the first legislative term, appreciating the generous support and gracious patronage extended by H.H. Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, “May God protect him,” affirming that this support was a key motivator for the Council to fulfill its national duties.
In a statement marking the conclusion of the fourth ordinary session of the first legislative term of the Council, H.E. Dr. Al Sulaiti praised the phase for its diligent work and sincere efforts by Council Members, which led to a qualitative shift in exercising legislative and oversight competencies, greater openness to community issues, and tangible engagement with the country’s regional and international environment.
She noted the vital draft laws and proposals addressing important societal issues achieved during this session, which contributed to the development of public policies, highlighting the Council’s teamwork spirit and the atmosphere of respect and understanding that reflected genuine Shura values and the Members’ keenness to prioritize the nation’s higher interests.
The Deputy Speaker commended the efforts of the standing committees and the constructive engagement with the esteemed government, affirming that sessions hosting ministers set a model for integration between the legislative and executive branches. She also pointed to the Council’s distinguished role on the international parliamentary stage through active participation that amplified Qatar’s voice and defended just causes, foremost among them the Palestinian cause.
Concluding her statement, H.E. Dr. Al Sulaiti extended her thanks to everyone who contributed to the Council’s success, especially the General Secretariat of the Council and the national media, which played an active role in bringing the Council’s work closer to the public, praying to God to preserve Qatar and its leadership and to sustain its security and prosperity.
