Secretary-General of the Shura Council: The General Secretariat Was a Foundational Pillar Contributing to the Council’s Success During the First Legislative Term

H.E. Mr. Naif bin Mohammed Al Mahmoud, Secretary-General of the Shura Council, affirmed that the General Secretariat formed a fundamental organizational pillar during the first legislative term, effectively supporting the Council’s legislative and oversight journey by providing a fully professional work environment meeting Members’ needs and enhancing committee performance.
In a statement marking the conclusion of the fourth ordinary session of the first legislative term, H.E. Al Mahmoud expressed his pride in the significant achievements of this important phase, which included the approval of vital draft laws, thorough follow-up on proposals and statements, and prominent international parliamentary participation. He praised the pivotal role of the Council under the presidency of H.E. Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanem, and the sincere efforts of the esteemed Council Members.
He noted the General Secretariat’s commitment during this term to developing technical and administrative support tools, facilitating committee work, and ensuring well-organized Council sessions at the highest standards, in line with efficiency and the ambitions of the current stage.
The Secretary-General pointed out the Secretariat’s focus on strengthening its human resources by attracting and qualifying national talents and implementing specialized training programs, which contributed to improving institutional performance according to best international practices.
H.E. Al Mahmoud also appreciated the positive cooperation with relevant entities, which clearly facilitated the Council’s work and enhanced coordination on legislative and oversight files, serving the national interest and contributing to achieving Qatar National Vision 2030.
Concluding his statement, H.E. Al Mahmoud reaffirmed the General Secretariat’s commitment to continue developing institutional performance and meeting the requirements of the coming phase to remain an active partner in supporting the Council and enabling it to fulfill its role in serving the homeland and citizens under the wise leadership of H.H. Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, may God protect him.
