Shura Council Speaker Meats Parliamentary Officials on Sideline of Coordination Meeting in Doha

HE Speaker of the Shura Council Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim met separately with HE President of the Senate of the Republic of Zimbabwe and President of African Parliamentary Union Mabel Memory Chinomona, HE President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean Pedro Roque, and HE Executive Secretary of the Interparliamentary Committee of the G5 Sahel Tankoano Norbert.

These meetings came on the sidelines of the work of the Third Counter-Terrorism Coordination Meeting for Parliamentary Policy Dialogue on border security and cross-border cooperation in the context of counter-terrorism, which held in Doha, and organized by the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) and the Doha-based UN Program Office on Parliamentary Engagement in Preventing and Countering Terrorism, in cooperation with the Shura Council.

HE Speaker of the Shura Council discussed with the parliamentary officials a number of matters related to strengthening the role of parliaments in supporting national and international efforts in counter terrorism, in addition to discussing the parliamentary cooperation relations and ways to advance them.

The participants praised the efforts of the State of Qatar in fighting terrorism and extremism, noting its constant endeavor to enhance international peace and security, and its contribution to achieve sustainable developments goals.

They also noted the importance of the activities organized by UNOCT and the Doha-based UN Program Office on Parliamentary Engagement in Preventing and Countering Terrorism, appreciating the support of the Shura Council for the activities of the office.
