Speaker of Advisory Council Meets Spanish Parliament Delegation

HE Speaker of the Advisory Council Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud held a meeting this morning with a Spanish parliamentary delegation currently visiting Doha. The delegation is headed by HE Chairman of the Justice Committee in the Spanish Senate Senator Manuel Altava Lavall.

The meeting discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries, especially in the parliamentary area and explored the ways to bolster and strengthen them. The meeting also reviewed a number of issues of common interest.

HE the Speaker of Advisory Council briefed the Spanish delegation about the progress and the developments that the State of Qatar is witnessing in the economic and legislative fields, and he briefed the delegation about the unjust blockade imposed on Qatar in violation of the international law, norms and legal instruments, and which undermines the human rights and the principles of good neighborliness.

The Speaker of the Advisory Council expressed his satisfaction with the great development which the Qatari-Spanish relations are witnessing, particularly in the economic filed.

For their part, the visiting delegation praised the features of the development they have witnessed in the State of Qatar.

The visiting delegation professed the support to all the efforts made to resolve the Gulf crisis through dialogue, understanding and respecting of the sovereignty and independence of States. The delegation affirmed their full understanding of Qatars stance which calls for settlement of disputes between States through dialogue.

The delegation expressed the hope for advancement of the bilateral cooperation between the two countries in all fields during the coming period.
