The Interim Committee in Shura Holds Its First Meeting to Study "Increased Divorce Rates"

The Interim Committee to Study the Problem of "Increasing Divorce Rates in Society", formed by decision of the Shura Council at a previous session, held its first meeting today.
At the beginning of the meeting, H.E. Mr. Khalid bin Abas Kamal Al-Emadi, member of the Shura Council, was elected Chairman of the Committee.
The Committee's aim is to examine the problem of divorce as a problem that prejudices society and destabilizes the family. During the meeting, the Committee discussed its plan of action to examine that problem and develop effective solutions to overcome it.
The Committee also defined the scope of its work and conceptualized the relevant bodies with which to communicate and cooperate in order to develop a complete and comprehensive picture of the dimensions of the problem of divorce and its aggravation in society. At the end of the meeting, the Committee decided to complete its study of the subject at its next meeting.
