Association of General Secretaries of Arab Parliaments Commends Qatar's Support and a Number of Arab States for Sudan

The Association of General Secretaries of Arab Parliaments commended the support of the State of Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the Arab Republic of Egypt to the sister Republic of Sudan, which is experiencing fighting between the military and rapid support forces.

In a statement signed by His Excellency Dr. Ahmed bin Nasser Al-Fadhala, President of the Association, the Assembly of General Secretaries of Arab Parliaments appreciated the efforts of those countries in supporting the sisterly people of Sudan and their full support for their steadfastness in the face of the difficult conditions currently being experienced by the ongoing fighting.

In its statement, the Assembly expressed its appreciation for all the material and in-kind assistance provided by those States to the Sudan immediately after the outbreak of fighting between the warring parties. The Arab States conducted flights to transport development, food and medical assistance and field hospitals to provide relief and support to the Sudanese people.

In its statement, the Assembly of General Secretaries of Arab Parliaments expressed its appreciation for those States' vigorous endeavours to halt the fighting in the Sudan through their mediation efforts, to host talks between all parties and to call for dialogue and peaceful ways to overcome their differences.

The Assembly looked forward to those efforts resulting in an immediate cessation of hostilities and the avoidance of civilians' consequences.

In conclusion, the Assembly of General Secretaries of Arab Parliaments, based in Kuwait, invited all Arab, international and international humanitarian and relief organizations to play their part in assisting the brotherly Sudanese people and to stand with them in such circumstances.
