Speaker of Shura Council Meets Speaker of Parliament of Ireland

HE Speaker of the Shura Council Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim met on Monday with HE Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Ireland Sean O Fearghail and his accompanying delegation, who is visiting the country to attend the Doha Forum 2023.

During the meeting, they discussed the existing parliamentary cooperation between the two countries and ways to support and develop them. In addition, they discussed the latest developments in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories, especially the devastating humanitarian situations in the Strip.

In this context, HE the Speaker of the Shura Council praised the stances of the Irish Parliament in support of the Palestinian cause and its rejection of the crimes committed by the occupation forces against civilians in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories.

In turn, HE the Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Ireland commended the prominent and leading role of the State of Qatar in establishing international peace and security through its mediation efforts at the regional and international levels as well as its call for dialogue as a way to resolve all problems and differences.

His Excellency also expressed the gratitude of the Irish people for the humanitarian efforts of the State of Qatar in Gaza, which led to the release of a number of hostages, including an Irish woman. His Excellency underscored that these noble efforts are appreciated by the government and the people of Ireland.

During the meeting, both sides emphasized the role of the parliaments in supporting peace efforts and promoting international security.
