Shura Council Participates in Arab Parliament Committees Meetings in Cairo

Shura Council participated Friday in the meetings of the permanent committees of the Arab Parliament, which were held in Cairo in preparation for holding the first plenary session of the fourth session of the third legislative term of the Parliament scheduled for Saturday.

The permanent committees of the Arab Parliament include the Foreign Affairs and Political and National Security Committee; the Economic and Financial Affairs Committee; the Legislative, Legal and Human Rights Affairs Committee; the Social, Educational, Cultural, Women and Youth Affairs Committee and Palestine Committee.

The meeting of the Committee for Social, Educational, Cultural Women and Youth Affairs, in the Arab Parliament discussed the committees work plan proposal for the fourth session of the third legislative term, submitted by HE member of the Shura Council, member of the committee, Shaikha bint Yousuf Al Jufairi, related to the need to identify the problems of high divorce cases, the reasons for young peoples reluctance to marry, and the high rates of unemployment in Arab societies and how to eliminate them.

During the meeting, the Social Situation Report in the Arab World for the year 2022 was approved. The meeting also discussed activating the establishment of a fund to support the Arabic language in the least developed Arab countries, in addition to reviewing the topic of "Protecting societal values in the Arab world", discussing the preparation of the Womens Empowerment Document in the Arab World, and other topics.

In turn, the Economic and Financial Affairs Committee discussed at its meeting a draft indicative law on promoting investment in the fields of renewable and clean energy in the Arab world, in addition to discussing Arab cooperation in the field of marketing.

The meeting which was attended by HE member of the Shura Council and member of the committee, Issa bin Ahmed Al Nasr, also reviewed the committees activity report during the period (2022-2023), in addition to discussing a number of topics related to Arab cooperation in the field of investment and trade.

In the same context, the Legislative, Legal and Human Rights Affairs Committee discussed the draft fifth annual report on the situation of human rights in the Arab world for the year 2022. A draft road map to combat child labor in the Arab region by 2026, and a draft vision of the Arab Parliament to address the negative repercussions of natural disasters on human rights in the Arab world.

The meeting, which was attended by HE member of the Shura Council and member of the Committee, Salem bin Rashid Al Meraikhi, also reviewed the memorandum of the General Secretariat on the decisions of the Council of the League of Arab States issued by the Arab Summit (32), which was held in Jeddah, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, last May.

Meanwhile, the Foreign Affairs and Political and National Security Committee, reviewed in its meeting which was attended by HE member of the Shura Council and member of the committee, Hamad bin Abdullah Al Mulla, the political and security developments in the Arab world during the past period. It also discussed preparing a parliamentary vision to confront the travel of foreign terrorists and work to prevent their movement between Arab countries.

The Palestine Committee in the Arab Parliament held its meeting Thursday and focused on discussing developments in events and the dangerous escalation that the Palestinian territories have witnessed since last Saturday.
