President of the Association of General Secretaries of Arab Parliaments Confirms the Assembly's Role in Supporting Arab Parliamentary Action

His Excellency Dr. Ahmed bin Nasser Al Fadhala, President of the Association of Secretaries-General of Arab Parliaments, Secretary-General of the Shura Council, stressed the importance of the role that the Association plays in improving joint Arab parliamentary work, through the administrative and technical services and consultations it provides that benefit parliaments and legislative councils in Arab countries. In addition to its contribution to unifying visions and trends towards various issues of concern to the peoples of the region.
In his speech delivered at the first plenary session of the fourth session of the third legislative term of the Arab Parliament, which was held in Cairo today, under the chairmanship of His Excellency Mr. Adel bin Abdul Rahman Al-Asoumi, His Excellency expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Arab Parliament, represented by its president and all its members, for inviting the Assembly to participate in the session based on Due to his previous decision, to grant the association observer status in Parliament, appreciating at the same time the confidence of the heads of Arab parliaments in the association and their interest in its work.
His Excellency also stressed that granting the Assembly of General Secretaries of Arab Parliaments the status of observer member of the Arab Parliament would strengthen inter-parliamentary cooperation relations between the two sides, open channels of coordination between them in various partnerships and positions, and contribute effectively to further discussions on topics of mutual interest, and exchange views and advice on several issues.
In his address to the Arab Parliament, His Excellency addressed the developments in the occupied Palestinian territories and the gruesome crimes committed by the occupying forces against the Palestinians, which resulted in hundreds of martyrs and thousands of wounded and unprecedented destruction of infrastructure, residential buildings and public facilities.
His Excellency referred to the repeated warnings issued by the Arab Parliament and the Association of Secretaries-General of the danger of the Israeli escalation and its continuing violations against the Palestinian people, which resulted in the situation erupting in the current form in light of the dangerous Israeli escalation against the Palestinian people.
His Excellency called on the international community to protect the Palestinians from the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip, its persistence in punishing its residents and its failure to allow the opening of humanitarian corridors to provide medical supplies and basic needs of the population.
His Excellency the President of the Assembly of General Secretaries of Arab Parliaments also touched upon the horrific earthquake that struck Morocco and the floods and floods that hit Libya last September.
His Excellency congratulated the Kingdom of Morocco on the honour of hosting the 2030 World Cup in partnership with Spain and Portugal, as the second Arab country to host this major event after Qatar.
He praised Saudi Arabia for officially announcing its candidacy to host the 2034 World Cup, expressing his full confidence that it will be the third Arab country to host the World Cup, as it has high potential to host such global events. The Assembly, with the participation of the Arab Parliament, would provide all its potential and support to the two fraternal countries.
In his statement, His Excellency drew attention to the growing role of the Assembly of General Secretaries of Arab Parliaments, its active participation in various Arab parliamentary forums, and its interaction with various issues and topics related to Arab and Islamic affairs, which is reflected positively in Arab parliaments and legislative councils.
On the sidelines of the meeting, His Excellency Mr. Adel bin Abdulrahman Al-Assoumi honoured the Assembly of General Secretaries of Arab Parliaments, represented by His Excellency Dr. Ahmed bin Nasser Al Fadhala, President of the Assembly, for its efforts to promote joint Arab action and to support parliamentary efforts to deepen and strengthen cooperation among Arab States.
For its part, the association, represented by its president, honored His Excellency the Speaker of the Arab Parliament, and His Excellency Counselor Kamel Farid Shaarawi, Secretary-General of the Parliament, in exchange for their efforts in supporting and strengthening Arab parliamentary work and advancing it to broader horizons.
