The Shura Council participated in the 50th meeting of the Executive Committee of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC), which concluded its work on Friday in Algeria.

HE Yousef bin Ahmed Al Sada and HE Nasser bin Hassan Al Kubaisi, members of the council, represented the council in the two-day meeting, which was attended by the PUIC Standing Specialized Committee on Economic Affairs and Environment.

The meeting included the two closed working sessions during which the election of bureau members took place, as well as the follow-up on the implementation of resolutions and recommendations from the 17th PUIC Conference held in Algeria in January of last year, among other agenda items.

In its recommendations, the meeting approved the PUIC's support for the Palestinian state's bid for full membership in the United Nations, the categorical rejection of the forced displacement of Palestinians, and the affirmation that the future of Palestine can only be decided by the Palestinian people.

They also appreciated the initiative of South Africa to file a lawsuit against the Israeli entity at the International Court of Justice, applauding the exceptional measures adopted by the Court and mobilizing international support for implementing them, stopping the genocide, and obliging the occupation to comply with international legitimacy and international law.

The meeting called for strengthening cooperation between the parliaments of the Union through the exchange of experiences and practices in parliamentary work and promoting rapprochement between the representatives of the Islamic peoples.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the members of the Shura Council met with HE Speaker of the Algerian People's National Assembly, Ibrahim Boughali. The meeting reviewed the existing parliamentary relations between the two countries.
