Deputy Speaker of Shura Council Meets Speaker of Jordanian House of Representatives

HE Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council Dr. Hamda bint Hassan Al Sulaiti and her accompanying delegation met today in Amman with HE Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Ahmed Safadi.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Speaker of the Jordanian House of Representatives welcomed the Shura Council delegation, praising the depth of fraternal relations between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples, noting that such visits contribute to increasing coordination and cooperation between the Shura Council and the Jordanian House of Representatives.

For her part, HE the Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council stressed need to increase coordination of positions between the two councils within the framework of regional and international organizations in a way that serves Arab and Islamic issues, particularly the Palestinian cause.

During the meeting, they reviewed a number of issues related to strengthening parliamentary cooperation between the two countries, in addition to discussing a number of issues of common interest.

The two sides discussed the phenomenon of hate speech and contempt for religions, pointed to the seriousness of this phenomenon, and stressed need to work within the parliamentary framework to enact legislation that criminalizes contempt for religions and limits the spread of hate speech and violence.
