Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council: Qatar is keen to promote peace through dialogue

Her Excellency Dr. Hamda bint Hassan Al Sulaiti, Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council, affirmed the keenness of the State of Qatar to promote peace and understanding through constructive dialogue between civilizations, cultures and religions, and by spreading the values of tolerance and cooperation.
In her speech before the first international conference of the Group of Friends of Neutrality, entitled “The Role of Parliamentary Cooperation in Promoting Dialogue and Peace,” which was organized by the Parliament of the Republic of Turkmenistan, she noted that Qatar has established national institutions concerned with spreading the culture of peace, establishing dialogue and acceptance of others, and rejecting violence, extremism, and exclusion at the national and regional levels. And international. These institutions include the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue and the Hamad Bin Khalifa Center in the Danish capital, Copenhagen. The State of Qatar was one of the first countries to support the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, which also plays an active role in promoting a culture of peace.
She also stressed in this conference, which was organized via video communication technology last weekend, that the efforts of the State of Qatar in achieving peace were not limited only to the local level, but also to the regional and international levels, based on its belief that its security, stability and territorial integrity are part of Regional peace and world peace. For this reason, Qatar is making notable and significant efforts in resolving conflicts and internal disagreements between parties and conflicting factions in some countries, as well as in resolving disputes between countries, and its efforts have succeeded in resolving disputes and conflicts in many countries.
In the same context, Her Excellency drew attention to the Shura Council’s keenness to spread the culture of peace and dialogue, build bridges of communication and enhance cooperation with the peoples of all brotherly and friendly countries, inspired by the wise directives of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the country.
She pointed to the Council’s affirmation of its commitment to the principles that govern relations between countries and peoples and the promotion of cooperation in various fields through its active participation in various international and regional parliamentary forums. The Council is also keen to take advantage of Qatar’s hosting of various international events, including, for example, various sports tournaments, to deepen communication with the peoples of the world and cultural and social exchange, and this is what happened during the hosting of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar. Such efforts have contributed to creating a state of communication with The various peoples of the world through their parliaments that represent them.
During her speech, Her Excellency stressed, “As parliamentarians, we can discuss all issues related to peace, including resolving conflicts, achieving justice, equality, and comprehensive sustainable development, and cooperating to combat hate speech, contempt of religions, and Islamophobia, combating corruption, and cooperating in spreading a culture of tolerance, through all platforms and media available to us.” In our media.
Her Excellency added, "We cannot talk about spreading a culture of peace without addressing the conflicts and wars in our region, most notably the issue of the unjust aggression against innocent civilians in the Gaza Strip and all the occupied territories," stressing at the same time, "We, as parliamentarians, represent the peoples of the region, and therefore we must respond to the call of the popular conscience. We reject double standards, call for an immediate halt to the daily brutal massacres, and allow the delivery of humanitarian and medical aid to our besieged brothers in Gaza, so that we raise a generation that believes in the existence of justice on earth, and that our institutions are capable of restoring rights, so that our youth do not tend to extremism in response to injustice.”
At the beginning of her speech, Her Excellency Dr. Hamda bint Hassan Al Sulaiti, Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council, expressed the pride of Muslims in their Islamic religion, which is the religion of peace and mercy, and is based on the principles of justice, equality, non-hatred of others, coexistence with different races, and achieving security for more than 1,400 years.
It is worth noting that the first international conference held by the Group of Friends of Neutrality, at the parliamentary level, discussed the role of parliamentary cooperation in promoting dialogue and peace, and witnessed the exchange of visions, experiences and good practices in the field of parliamentary cooperation to achieve peace and raise the value of dialogue as a means to it.
