HE Speaker of the Shura Council Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim stressed that the National Day on Dec. 18 is an annual occasion to affirm the values of solidarity, pride and loyalty to the wise leadership, represented by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.

On this precious national occasion, His Excellency, in his name and on the behalf of fellow members of the Shura Council, congratulated HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, HH the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, HH the Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Thani, the esteemed government, the Qatari people and all those who live on the land of this generous nation.

HE Speaker of the Shura Council said, in a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), that commemorating the National Day, which is the anniversary of the founding of the State at the hands of the Founder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani is an opportunity to remember the efforts of Qataris who sacrificed for the sake of the nation and its progress, adding that this day is also an occasion to enhance the values of loyalty, solidarity, unity and pride in the authentic Qatari identity.

He said that contemplating the honorable history of the establishment of the State and the meanings embodied in it, inspires us to provide and preserve the gains achieved at the hands of the founding fathers.

In this context, HE the Speaker of the Shura Council praised the important development achievements made due to the directives of HH the Amir in an effort to achieve Qatar National Vision 2030.

His Excellency added that due to the wise policy of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, the State of Qatar assumed a prominent global position and became competitive in various fields.

It has proven its ability to host global activities and events with high professionalism, and has succeeded in being a meeting place for cultures, in addition to being a reliable mediator in efforts to establish peace and enhance international cooperation, he said.

HE Speaker of the Shura Council also pointed out that the National Day this year comes in a special circumstances in light of the brutal aggression against the Palestinian people by the Israeli occupation, which resulted in thousands of martyrs and wounded, most of them are women and children, in addition to the destruction of Gaza Strip and the targeting of civilian establishment.

His Excellency reaffirmed the position of the State of Qatar in support of the Palestinian cause and in support of the steadfastness of the Palestinian people, saying that the countrys position reflects the values of solidarity and cooperation on which Qatari society was founded on and followed.

These foundations of standing with the oppressed and supporting them, and supporting the issues of the Arab and Islamic nations in particular was laid by the Founder, he said.

HE Speaker of the Shura Council Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim concluded his statement by stressing the role of the Council and its keenness to support efforts aimed at achieving prosperity by enhancing popular participation in decision-making, in a manner that embodies the directives of the wise leadership, which bet on the people of the nation as the most important components of renaissance and achieving the desired development goals.
