The Shura Council State of Qatar

HE Shura Council Deputy Speaker Dr. Hamda bint Hassan Al Sulaiti noted the sublime speech of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani at the opening of the third regular session of the first legislative term, corresponding to the 52nd annual session of the Shura Council.

Her Excellency told Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the Shura Council carries out its duties stipulated in the constitution, enlightened and guided by the directives of HH the Amir, setting the Council's priorities in accordance with them.

She highlighted that in accordance with the sound directives of the wise leadership, and by being the country's legislative authority, the Shura Council moves steadily towards materializing the Qatar National Vision 2030, contributing tremendously to comprehensive development efforts.

Touching on the Shura Council's work during its previous session, Her Excellency said that the Council spared no effort to study and approve draft laws, draft proposals and discuss topics of social concern, stemming from the Council's keenness to achieve the aspirations of the citizen and the best interest of the country.

She pointed out that the Shura Council's approval of its draft Internal Regulations is a main highlight of the previous session, explaining that the Council discussed the draft Internal Regulations over several regular sessions and two extraordinary sessions, adding that Their Excellencies Shura Council Members showed great understanding during those sessions.

Regarding preparations for the current session, Her Excellency indicated that the Council is in a constant endeavor to develop its system and raise its readiness, based on its great concern for the interest of the nation and its citizens.

She added that the Council is working constantly and diligently on public affairs, with its committees following up on agenda items, and holding meetings with officials and specialists from relevant state authorities.

At the end of her statement to QNA, HE Shura Council Deputy Speaker Dr. Hamda bint Hassan Al Sulaiti praised all Shura Council members for their efforts, noting the members' high qualifications and extensive experience in an array of fields.

She also praised the entirety of the Shura Council General Secretariat for facilitating the Council's work and undertaking administrative aspects.
