Deputy Speaker of Shura Council Confirms Shura Council Continues its Unwavering Efforts to Epitomize Popular Participation

HE Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council Dr. Hamda bint Hassan Al Sulaiti affirmed that the council continues its unwavering efforts to epitomize the popular participation, represent the citizens, and achieve their aspirations by virtue of the unlimited support the council is receiving from the wise leadership.

In a statement to mark the end of the second ordinary session of the first legislative term, corresponding to the Shura Council's 50th annual session, Her Excellency availed herself of this opportunity to extend assurances of her highest consideration to HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani for the support and interest Shura Council is receiving from His Highness.

HE Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council added that during its second session the council continued its unwavering efforts to epitomize the popular participation and represent the citizens through practicing its jurisdictions which entail enactment of legislations, approving the public budget and surveilling the executive authority, pointing out that this was accomplished through the interaction and cooperation between the council and the esteemed government in recognition of the council's role and its significance in the country's political life.

She pointed out that the topics discussed by the council during its session touched on the citizens' desires and aspirations which were outcomes of the electoral programs laid out by candidates during the elections period as the council has been keen to study, crystalize and present them as topics for discussion.

Her Excellency praised the efforts made by all members of the Shura Council, including their positive interaction and tremendous keenness to lay out topics that concern the citizens, emphasizing the council's keenness-through discharging its role- to maintain the highest interests of the country and achieve its national vision 2030.

In this context, she discussed efforts of the council's committees, lauding their tremendous role in discussing topics laid out by the council, commending the cooperation and productive response from all relevant entities to the topics discussed by the council during its session.

Her Excellency added that undoubtedly one of the most outstanding achievements made by the council in its second session is the council's draft internal regulation, and once issued, it would represent a paradigm shift in the council's operation stemming from the fact that the draft represents a roadmap for the council through which all powers are exercised based on the constitution's decisions.

HE Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council Dr. Hamda bint Hassan Al Sulaiti asserted that the council would continue its giving during the upcoming session through continuing the cooperation and understanding made by all during the second session in handling a variety of topics and draft laws the council had considered and wished that they would fulfil the citizens' aspirations and epitomize the vision of the wise leadership in promoting popular participation and applying the shura approach.

For his part, HE Secretary-General of the Shura Council Dr. Ahmed bin Nasser Al Fadhala lauded the productive cooperation made by various relevant entities through the positive communication with the General- Secretariat of the Shura Council, affirming that such a cooperation would serve the country's interest and contribute to achieving its national vision 2030.

His Excellency noted the efforts made by Their Excellencies members of the council during the session, pointing out that the General- Secretariat with its various departments undertake constant efforts to provide all forms of essential administrative and rigorous support to the council to fully discharge its role for the service of homeland and citizens.

His Excellency touched on the endeavors of the General- Secretariat of the Shura Council to achieve that objective trough organizing departments based on the methods that achieve the required support for the Shura Council and attract, qualify, and train national competencies in accordance with the highest administrative standards dedicated to that purpose.

He noted the councils achievement in making the draft internal regulation during the session, emphasizing that once endorsed it would shift the council's operation to a new stage, in terms of legislative and surveillance aspects.

In conclusion, Dr. Al Fadhala expressed his aspiration for further progress during the upcoming sessions, asserting the General- Secretariat's keenness to keep up with the development through the persistent update of its administrative systems to be in commensurate with the vital role of the Shura Council in supporting the country's legislative course.
