Shura Council Participates in Asian Parliamentary Meeting in Antalya

The Shura Council is participating in the meeting of the Executive Council of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) hosted by Antalya in the Republic of Turkiye.

The Council is represented at the meeting by its members HE Eng. Ahmed bin Hitmi Al Hitmi, HE Yousef bin Ahmed Al Sada, and HE Nasser bin Metrif Al Hemeidi.

The two-day meeting is scheduled to elect members of the bureau, select president and vice presidents of the APA for the next session, and review the report of the APA Secretary-General on the work of the Assembly, in addition to considering draft resolutions of the standing committees and discussing a number of topics on the meeting's agenda.

The APA Executive Council will also consider establishing a special committee concerned with women's affairs called the "Commission on Women". The second day will also witness a meeting of the Working Group on Statutory Documents to discuss a number of topics related to the basic systems of the APA.

Earlier, representatives of the councils and parliaments of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries held a meeting chaired by HE Eng. Ahmed bin Hitmi Al Hitmi, member of the Shura Council, with the aim of coordinating positions and visions among representatives of the GCC councils participating in the meeting.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the Shura Council delegation met with members of the delegations of Yemen, Jordan and Azerbaijan taking part in the meeting, where they reviewed parliamentary cooperation relations and a number of topics on the agenda of the Executive Council meeting.
