Deputy Speaker of Shura Council Meets Parliamentarians on Sidelines of IPU General Assembly

HE Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council Dr. Hamda bint Hassan Al Sulaiti, the chairperson of the Shura Council's delegation participating in the 144th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Bali, Indonesia, held today a series of meetings with a number of parliamentarians, on the sidelines of the IPU General Assembly.


HE the Deputy Speaker met with HE Deputy Chairman of the Shura Council of the Sultanate of Oman Yaqoub Al Harthi, and HE Abdullah Al Junaibi, member of the Council.
The meeting discussed a number of topics listed on the agenda of the IPU General Assembly, in addition to cooperation ties between the Shura Councils of Qatar and Oman and ways of enhancing them.


HE Dr. Hamda Al Sulaiti also met with HE Monder Bouden, Vice-President of the People's National Assembly of Algeria, and member of the IPU High-Level Advisory Group on Countering Terrorism and Violent Extremism. The meeting touched on a number of topics on the agenda of the IPU General Assembly, and means of promoting and strengthening the parliamentary cooperation between the Shura Council and Algeria's People's National Assembly and the Council of the Nation.


HE the Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council met with HE Dr. Ravza Kavakci, head of the delegation of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey taking part in the IPU General Assembly.


During the meeting, the two sides welcomed the Memorandum of Understanding between the Shura Council and the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, which was signed in Doha recently with the aim of bolstering the cooperation and coordination between the two sides. The meeting also reviewed means to implement the items of the MoU.
