Deputy Speaker of Shura Council Meets Speaker of Jordan Lower House, Moroccan Counterpart

HE Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council Dr. Hamda bint Hassan Al Sulaiti met separately on Sunday with HE Speaker of the Jordan Lower House Ahmad Safadi, and HE Deputy Speaker of the Moroccan House of Representatives Mohammed Ouzzine, on the sidelines of the 17th session of the Conference of Union of Councils of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) that is currently being held in Algiers.

During the two meetings, they reviewed the existing cooperation ties between the Shura Council and the Jordanian and Moroccan Houses of Representatives and ways to promote them, in addition to a range of topics on the agenda of the session.

HE Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council also met with HE Secretary General of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States Muhammad Qureshi Nias, and discussed with him the existing cooperation ties between the Shura Council and the union, and ways to enhance them.

Her Excellency underscored the importance of taking practical and serious stances, and setting a mechanism to respond to the systematic campaigns of the European Parliament that target the OIC member states.

She also called for taking firm stance towards the burning of copies of the Holy Qur'an in Sweden, Netherlands and Denmark with the approval and protection of the official authorities of those countries, under the pretext that such a criminal and outrageous act falls under freedom of expression.

Her Excellency stressed the importance of paying more attention to the Palestinian cause to be considered the highest priorities, and as the central issue of the Islamic world.
