The Shura Council participated yesterday in the 39th session of the Executive Committee of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, held in Cairo.
The Council was represented in the meeting by H.E. Dr. Sultan bin Hassan Al-Dhabit Al-Dosari, member of the Shura Council and member of the Union’s Executive Committee.
The meeting, chaired by H.E. Mr. Ibrahim Boughali, President of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union and Speaker of the Algerian People’s National Assembly, was also attended by H.E. Dr. Hamda bint Hassan Al-Sulaiti, Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council, member of the Executive Committee of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, and Vice-Chair of the Committee for the Arab Group at the Union, upon the invitation of the President of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union.
The agenda included reviewing the report of the General Secretariat on the activities of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union during the past period, as well as reports from the temporary financial and diplomatic committees. The meeting also discussed forming the membership of the Arab Parliamentary Excellence Award Committee, the work program and draft budget for 2026, and a memorandum of cooperation between the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union and the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism.
The session also addressed the emergency item that will be presented by the Arab Group at the Inter-Parliamentary Union during its 151st General Assembly, to be hosted in Geneva next October.
Earlier, H.E. Dr. Sultan Al-Dosari had participated in the GCC coordination meeting held remotely, with the aim of unifying the positions of the Gulf Cooperation Council states participating in the Executive Committee meeting.
