Shura Council Deputy Speaker Reviews Qatar's Efforts in Supporting World Peace

HE Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council Dr. Hamda bint Hassan Al Sulaiti affirmed on Thursday the endeavor of the State of Qatar, in accordance with the directives of the wise leadership, to promote peace in the world by contributing to all efforts aimed at facing global and regional challenges, and easing tension in international relations.

In her speech, during the closing day sessions of the 17th Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM), which is being held in the Moroccan capital, Rabat, Her Excellency noted Qatar's endeavor to reduce tension and support peace processes in many places witnessing conflicts, crises and wars.

In this context, Her Excellency referred to Qatar's efforts to support stability and security in Afghanistan, Chad, Sudan, and other countries that suffer from conflicts and wars, affirming that the State of Qatar has always called for dialogue to be a way to resolve differences and conflicts as a necessity to achieve peace and stability.

Her Excellency called on the parliaments of the Mediterranean countries to seek to urge their governments to adopt this policy, which contributes to achieving security and development, and supports multilateral international cooperation.

She also reviewed the developmental initiatives offered by the State of Qatar with the aim of supporting the most vulnerable groups in places of conflict, stressing that this stems from the pioneering role played by the State of Qatar regionally and internationally, and its efforts to enhance security and support development.

During the session, the work of the Standing Committee on Political Cooperation and Security Issues in Parliament and its activities for the next stage, as well as a number of reports were reviewed and the recommendations contained therein were discussed.
