Advisory Council Speaker Arrives in Moscow

HE Speaker of the Advisory Council Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud and his accompanying delegation arrived in Moscow on Sunday to participate in the International Forum for the Development of Parliamentarianism.

HE Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud, noted in remarks, the distinguished proposed program of this conference and arranged round tables on topics of great importance to the world needs.

He added that the forum is of great importance to because it discusses the role of parliamentary diplomacy in establishing security and stability in the world, supporting global security and economy, supporting the safety of the global economy, and the importance of information technology and the relationship between parliaments and the peoples of the world.

He pointed out that information technology is an important and positive issue unless it is used incorrectly and in a bad way that does not help security or stability, stressing the necessity of discussing this issue and finding a mechanism to make the use of information technology positive for the international cooperative process.

For his part, HE Deputy Speaker of the State Duma Sergei Ivanovich, the Chairman of the Unity Party Committee of the Duma, expressed happiness at the Qatari participation in this two-day Forum which will discuss many important topics and issues related to security, economy, digital world and other important issues.

The International Forum on the Development of Parliamentarianism will discuss several issues, including legislative support for the development of the world economy in the twenty-first century and the most important relevant technologies, trends and resources.

The forum will include discussion panels on the prospects of parliamentary cooperation between Russia on one side and the African Union and Latin America on the other, as well as issues related to legislative support for media work and freedom of expression.

Current problems and prospects for the development of international humanitarian law and the parliamentary dimension of youth policy will also be discussed in the Forum.
