Advisory Council Speaker Participates in the 139th IPU General Assembly

Meetings of the 139th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) kicked off at Geneva Conference Center on Monday with the participation of HE Speaker of the Advisory Council Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud.
The current session, which was opened by HE President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Gabriela Cuevas Barron, is held under the theme "Parliamentary Leadership in Promoting Peace and Development in the Age of Innovation and Technological Change".
The meetings will discuss a number of important issues related to the role of the world parliaments in promoting development and peace.
The emergency item on climate change received the highest percentage of votes in the voting session on the emergency items on the agenda of the IPU General Assembly.
The opening was attended by several members of the Advisory Council and HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Office in Geneva Ambassador Ali Khalfan Al Mansouri.
