The Shura Council hosted a delegation from the General Secretariat of the Bahraini Council of Representatives, as part of efforts to enhance cooperation and coordination between the two councils and to exchange expertise and best practices in the duties and responsibilities undertaken by the general secretariats in supporting the legislative and oversight work of parliaments.
During the three-day visit, which concluded today, the delegation attended part of the thirty-third session of the Shura Council in its current term, which was held yesterday (Monday) under the chairmanship of His Excellency Mr. Hassan bin Abdullah Al-Ghanim, Speaker of the Shura Council. His Excellency welcomed the delegation after the session, praising the level of coordination and cooperation between the two councils and their commitment to exchanging visits and experiences.
In turn, the delegation members expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the warm reception and generous hospitality, praising the distinguished relations between the two councils.
As part of the visit, the delegation met with His Excellency Mr. Nayef bin Mohammed Al Mahmoud, Secretary-General of the Shura Council. At the beginning of the meeting, His Excellency welcomed the Bahraini delegation and expressed his pride in the visit, which reflects the deep fraternal ties between the two brotherly countries, wishing the delegation a fruitful visit and looking forward to further cooperation and coordination between the two councils.
During the visit, the delegation was briefed on the administrative and organizational work of the Shura Council's General Secretariat and attended a lecture that addressed the Council’s history spanning more than half a century, as well as its legislative and oversight responsibilities in accordance with the State’s Constitution and the Council’s internal regulations.
The delegation also received a detailed explanation of the Council’s organizational structure, the responsibilities of the General Secretariat and its departments, in addition to an overview of the Council’s oversight tools, legislative process, and the procedures followed, including communication channels with the government through the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers.
On the sidelines of the visit, the delegation toured the Shura Council building and the "Tamim bin Hamad" hall, where they were introduced to the Council’s working mechanisms and the latest technologies used to manage its sessions and committee work.
