At the beginning of the meeting, the Council discussed its draft annual budget for the year 2019.

The Council also discussed a draft law on the genetic DNA. According to the draft law a genetic DNA database shall be established in the Ministry of Interior and will be under the competent department in the Ministry.

The data shall be saved for thirty years and then deleted after the expiration of this period.

The data recorded in the genetic DNA database is confidential and cannot be accessed without the permission of the Minister of Interior, or the Department of Public Prosecutions, or the competent court.

The biological samples thus taken shall not be used for purposes other than the ones set forth in the draft law, which defines the penalties that will be applied to violators.
The Council thereafter decided to refer the draft law to the Internal and External Affairs Committee to study the draft law and to submit its report thereon to the Council.
