The Shura Council Participates in a Parliamentary Conference on Modernizing National Legislation Related to Counter-Terrorism

The Shura Council participated in a parliamentary conference held Thursday on the Global challenges and threats in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic related to terrorism and violent extremism.

This came in the framework of the partnership between the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States (IPA CIS), the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM), Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe Parliamentary Assembly (OSCE PA), the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) and the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT).

Talks, which took place via video conference, focused on the importance of revising counter-terrorism policies and legislation. Participants also agreed on the importance of having a vibrant national dialogue and avoiding polarization.

The Shura Council was represented by Khalid bin Abdullah Al Buainain, member of the council.
