HE Speaker of the Shura Council Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud held Thursday a meeting at the headquarters of the Permanent Mission of the State of Qatar to the United Nations in New York with Ambassadors and delegates of 16 non-member countries of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) on the sidelines of the parliamentary hearing which will begin Thursday at United Nations Headquarters and will last for two days.
During the meeting, HE the Speaker of the Shura Council called on ambassadors and delegates from the IPU non-member countries to participate with their countries in the meeting of the 140th session of the General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union to be held in the State of Qatar next April. HE Al Mahmoud noted the importance of this session and the issues and topics that will be discussed which have a positive impact on the international parliamentary community.
HE stressed that the broad presence of both the IPU member States and non-member States will contribute to enrich constructive discussions and dialogues during the meetings of the 140th IPU session, thus producing results and decisions that serve the peoples and nations of the world.
The meeting was attended by HE Permanent Representative of Qatar to the United Nations Ambassador Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani and a number of the Shura Council members.
