The Shura Council will participate in the 34th conference of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU), due on Saturday and Sunday in Iraq's capital Baghdad.
HE Speaker of Shura Council Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim will head the Council's delegation to the conference.
Held under the theme "Arab support for the promotion of Iraq's stability and sovereignty", the conference will discuss the most important issues of concern to the Arab world, and joint coordination in facing various challenges, amid the participation of speakers of the AIPU member States's parliaments.
Earlier today, the Shura Council participated in the meeting of the 30th extraordinary session of the AIPU's Executive Committee, held in Baghdad. The meeting discussed mechanisms and ways to develop the work of the AIPU, as well as the AIPU's financial situation, its most prominent obstacles and ways to overcome them.
The Shura Council will also participate on Friday in the meeting of the 31st session of the Executive Committee preparatory to the conference. The meeting is set to deal with the conference's draft agenda and review AIPU Secretary-General's report on a number of issues, including the activities of the General Secretariat over the past period.
