The Shura Council State of Qatar

H. E. Mr. Ahmed Bin Abdulla Bin Zaid Al-Mahmoud, the Speaker of the Shura Council met today with Their Excellencies the ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions accredited to the State of Qatar, in the context of the preparations for the 140th, , Meeting of the General Assembly of the IPU and the Related Meetings to be hosted by the State of Qatar, from 6th,  to 10th,  April, 2019. 

During the meeting, His Excellency the Speaker of the Shura Council confirmed the completion of the arrangements for the convening of the coming General Assembly of the IPU and the provision of all the requirements for its success, so as enable it to come out with positive results that support the joint parliamentary action, to contribute to deepening international cooperation and world peace for the benefit, interest and welfare of the peoples of the world. 

His Excellency the Speaker of the Shura Council said that the convention of the next session of the General Assembly of the IPU amid prevalence of extremely delicate and complex conditions in various regions of the world, makes it imperative that the global participation of the parliamentary delegations should be the at high level, so as to affirm the role of parliaments in the sincere expression of hopes and aspirations of their nations. He further pointed out that the theme of the IPU session in Doha will be "Parliaments as platforms for promotion of education, peace, security and the rule of law", in order to highlight the importance of education and its role in achieving the desired goals.

 His Excellency the Speaker of the Shura Council looked forward to receiving Their Excellencies the heads of parliaments and members of their delegations in Doha and to work with them hand in hand in order to achieve the objectives of the IPU and to promote friendship and cooperation between the world parliaments and nations.
