Shura Council, Portugal's Assembly of the Republic Sign MoU

The Shura Council and Portugal's Assembly of the Republic signed Thursday a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at the assembly's headquarters.

From the Qatari side, the MoU was signed by HE Speaker of the Shura Council Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud and from the Portuguese side it was signed by HE President of the Assembly Eduardo Ferro Rodrigues.

Under the MoU both sides agreed to establish partnership and promote relations that connect both sides based on principles of equality and mutual trust. In addition they agreed to establish two parliamentary groups of friendship, exchange information, and work on unifying stances of common interest and unifying stances on topics in international conferences, meetings and forums. They also agreed on mutual support in appointing leadership positions of international parliamentary organizations and exchanging expertise in various fields, such as legislative work and internal organization.

This came during a meeting held between both parties where they reviewed parliamentary relations between the Shura Council and the Assembly of the Republic. They also reviewed means to boost and develop them and discussed a number of topics of common interest.

The meeting was attended by a number of council and assembly members as well as HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Portuguese Republic Saad bin Ali Al Binali Al Mohannadi.
